Murtoa’s Big Weekend

Murtoa’s Big Weekend began in 1997 to celebrate Murtoa’s 125th birthday and continues to be the biggest annual event on the Murtoa calendar, and draws people from near and far.

The event is held annually over 3 days during the first weekend of October and features the historical attractions that Murtoa has to offer, and other attractions including: The Stick Shed, Murtoa Museum Precinct, Murtoa Cup Races, Murtoa A&P Agricultural Show, Art Exhibition, the Dunmunkle Sumpoiler’s Historic Engines display and rally, a Monster Market, Show’n’Shine and many other activities.

In addition, a new key feature is added each year to Murtoa’s Big Weekend to excite the community and visitors.

Murtoa’s Big Weekend also provides an excellent opportunity for all to experience the beautiful natural features of the town.
